And don't forget that sincere-looking;badly bespectacled; crap guitarist; HANK MARVIN!!!
Yep; now you picture him you wonder why you did'nt suspect him before!?!
Apparently he's tried to convert saint Cliff, and distributes literature to unsuspecting countries under ban when he goes abroad;perhaps they think letting him play will shut him up.god, i HATE his guitar twanging! -

Last night's meeting
by RunningMan inmy son had a talk last night, so i had the priviledge of trudging off to another meeting.
the bible section being considered at the present time is isaiah 19-26. much to my surprize, i learned that the society is prefigured in at least two places in these few chapters.
they consider themselves the "watchman" class, as well as the "eliakim" class, with the poor old clergy of christendom relegated to the mere "shebna" class.. this correspondance of the society to virtually everything in the bible is getting sickening already.

Hey, me too! the reactivators want to come and try to plug me back in too; must be a Spring clean in the society-perhaps we'll get chucked out with the rest of the crap in the halls...

today's Kingdom Hall experience
by Cygnus inwent to my grandfather's funeral service at the kingdom hall today.
two or three minutes were spent on grandfather, and the rest on the bible, jehovah, how sin makes our bio cells degenerate, etc.
etc.. fortunately, i'm well past the stage of anger at the witnesses for shoving their religious beliefs down my throat.

so sad for you;funerals are supposed to show respect and offer memories to take back with you, also to hear stuff about the preson you never even knew; fat chance huh? My uncles(non dub) was so lovely, it was so good to hear things about him that i had no idea about.that's the kind of thing that helps...the day my mum died witness 'friend' told me 'you'd better get baptised then, or you'll never see her again' NICE EH?I never did...

If the Dubs can do this why can't we?
by Mindchild inhave you ever been annoyed by the dubs bragging about how quickly they can build their kingdom halls (sometimes a weekend project) for so little money?
ive heard them boast that this is proof of being blessed by gods spirit.
but i wanted to float an idea out here to suggest something more constructive, both literally and figuratively.

Thanks Mindchild; these are really interesting. I've been thinking about moving abroad for a long, long time;my better half has'nt!this may be good ammo for me!it's a real shame that the Domes ar'nt really long lasting; they're fabulous, so much light;I'm sure in the right setting and with imaginative landscaping they could all look rather good.they'd certainly appeal as holiday homes,i'm afraid you're a little further than i ant to go... But those Domes in the Spanish climate...Adios!!!!

I LOVE rugby!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!What a brilliant last few sats. It's the only sport worth shouting at the screen for.
I'd like to see a few footballers have a go; they'd be crying for their mothers and praying for mercy!!!!! -

WTS quietly discarding end-times signs?
by ozziepost inback in 1995 a major change took place in the witnesses' 'understanding' of the generation that was foretold to see the end of the current 'system of things'.. no longer was it to be a literal generation that would see both the beginning of times of distress in 1914 and the culmination at armageddon.
instead the wts claimed 'new light' in interpreting the generation as applying to whichever generation of people were alive to see the final end.. also in 1995 another change took place that did not receive the same attention and may have remained unnoticed by the rank and file witnesses.
repeating a point already made in a watchtower issue of 1993, a new textbook to be used in the proselytising work (the knowledge book) was released.

Very nicely put, Ozziepost and all.So how are they also going to explain away the other point they kept using too? That the times were short because the annionted are very near to the end of their life -course and therefore the end will HAVE to come SOON as a few will obviously be left by Jehovah to see us through the first stages of the new system?!What; don't they need the annointed's help anymore? Are they SO close to 'getting It' that they don't need help in the NS now? !!!

How do you handle the childrens Questions?
by lydia inhow did you handle the childrens questions when you left he borg??.
were they old enough to understand, or young?.
if older - did they see the same things occuring as you did??.

Lydia, My children were from 4-13 when i stopped going to meetings.iposed this very same question a few months back as they were having problems with it, Basically we've just talked about it all as and when things crop up.There is such a difference between them all, i usually talk to them individually. They did'nt mind the meetings as i wuold'nt make them stay if i felt it was getting boring, as i felt it would put them off; i also skirted over quite a lot i found distasteful e.g. sexism ,violence as i thought i'd deal with it when they were older... this has subsequently back fired on me though, as they have no bad memories; so i now have to start telling them all the stuff i was keeping from them! weird situation; but it's getting there! just keep plugging away; they'll see it for what it is in the end x

EX-JW Activism, anything new?
by Mindchild inive seen posts here and there in the past months on this board that talk about ex-dub activism but i hate to admit this but most of the activities mentioned are rather ineffective in really doing anything but making us ex-dubs feel collectively better.. we have discussed protesting at conventions, making a protest walk, peeing on c.t.
russells grave, playing some games at local kingdom halls, and playing mind games with dubs online.
i really dont have anything against these forms of activism but i dont think they accomplish much.. what i therefore dare suggest and beg for your comments are new ideas of how we can redirect our anger more effectively and support actions and causes that sting the borg like hell and also help others out the door.. i have nothing but praise for the actions of people who take a stand like silent lambs, or others who have setup informative ex-dub websites and i think one good thing we could do is support these efforts by doing some fund raising.. i also would love to stick something right up the ass of the gb but im trying to think of just how to do it.

The library idea; simple , but could be very effective for some... in congs around here we've been informed over the years as to which libraries had the ray franz books(!) and told not to look or we,d go 'straight out of the truth' (as many did...)as monies are a problem there are always 'free ads' papers that will run as much as you like for nothing, week after week;in the personal colums; it will get spoken about, news about anything 'apostate' always travels very fast, working to promote the subject they are trying to warn about. But it would have to happen simultaniously as otherwise the source could be traced and some who have family still in may want to stay out of view...
